History
  Knoxville Youth Athletics was established by area youth track, field and cross country enthusiasts.  Among them Marty Sonnenfeldt youth athletics director for the Knoxville Track Club from 1987 thru May of 2012.  Inducted into the 2011 KTC Hall of Fame, Sonnenfeldt learned from one of the best in track and field / cross country former University of Tennessee coach Stan Huntsman.  An All-SEC performer for the Vols in track and cross country Sonnenfeldt has assembled a leadership staff with over 65 year of combined experience in Youth Athletics. 

  The Knoxville Youth Athletics Program was established to focus on developing the sport of track and field and cross country in the local area.  The Knoxville Youth Athletics program serves thousands of kids aged 5-18 in the areas of Outdoor Track and Field, Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field and Running.  Encompasing 34 events and 9 instructional programs Knoxville Youth Athletics is a year-round community support organization for our sport. Knoxville Youth Athletics strives to deliver programs and events to our area youth at the lowest possible cost so that finances are not a barrier to participation. 

  Kids of all abilities have taken thier first steps towards an active lifestyle through Knoxville Youth Athletics Programs.  Others have gone on to further thier competitive aspirations in the sport of track and field and cross country.  Our management team has provided the foundation for some to garner national honors and qualify for our countries Olympic Team.

Mission
Our mission is to provide instructional programs and events to help to develop the basic motor skills of running – jumping and throwing, skills that are the foundation for developement in any spots or fitness activity.  Knoxville Youth Athletics Programs provide opportunities for kids in both developmental and competitive programs. By managing, supporting and funding area youth track and field, cross country and running programs, Knoxville Youth Athletics seeks to establish a platform for enhancing each child’s personal fitness and athletic aspirations.  Fun, Fitness and Finish Lines.

Affiliations
Knoxville Youth Athletics is a member of USA Track and Field, the AAU and the Knox County Schools Partners in Education Program.
